Chicago, the musical

Barry & Fran Weissler presented CHICAGO at Overture Center this weekend. (Original production directed and choreography for “Hot Honey Rag” by Bob Fosse.) It was a fantastic performance starring with the Chicago US tour crew: Michelle DeJean (Roxie Hart), Brenda Braxton (Velma Kelly), Tom Wopat (Billy Flynn), Kevin Carolan (Amos Hart), Carol Woods (Matron “Mama” Morton), R. Bean (Mary Sunshine), and others.

This was a Saturday afternoon, a group of RedHat Mamas members there to watch the show as well. Several “witches” went to the performance as well—oh, right, it’s a Halloween weekend! There would be very crowded on State Street at night!

The sign language interpretation was amazing to give it a glance as well. I found their performance (two ladies did a tremendously professional job) was a respectful art form. The way they dressed, and the tempo, the rhythm, the hand postures, the facial expresses, and their body movement, earned my great interests in watching them besides the vibrant characters and show-stopping numbers including “All that Jazz” and “Mr. Cellophane,” and others.

Modern Design for Children

"Children are remarkable for their intelligence and ardor, for their curiosity, their intolerance of shams, the clarity and ruthlessness of their vision."
—Aldous Huxley
"Kids have an international style of their own, one deeply rooted in color, sound, movement and touch and not in Cartesian principles."

BLAST!

Overture presented a Mason Entertainment Group (MEG) and Bog League Theatricals, Inc. product of BLAST! in October 18-19, 2005 at Overture Hall, Overture Center, Madison, WI. I went to watch this fantastic performance on Wednesday (Oct. 19) night.

James Mason, the artistic director & CEO of MEG, came up to the stage prior to the performance. He told to the audience that how wonderful organization we have in Madison. He shared his experiences as a Madison boy scout many years ago while he was a poor young man, and Mr. and Mrs. Y*** had him to live in their basement. “Mr. & Mrs. Y*** have helped at least 56 boy scouts since then,” said Mason. Mason was glad to have Mrs. Y*** came to the Wednesday night show and introduced her to the audience. With the full house applause, Mason said he would like to give the grant of tonight’s performance to Mr. Y*** to the greatest appreciation to him and to the 56 boy scouts. With this warm-hearted praise, the show began….

雙人舞節奏褪淡

慢慢走向角落黑暗
靜靜遠離塵囂癡貪

道不盡的人間聚散
擺不脫的流連忘返

多少顧盼

Sun / Moon

The production and performance crew had a wonderful time in Sun/Moon (2005) at Wisconsin Studio, Overture Center, Madison, WI. The performance will travel in different cities this year. I am glad that Capital Times (Wed. Oct. 05, 2005, Life Style, Capital Times) has a great review on this show. Many audiences had tremendous impression on the Lake Moon piece. What a encouraging response!
