N. MacMaster 2005

Monday, April 4, 2005, Overture represents Natalie MacMaster fiddle concert. I went alone with smile all the way from the beginning of the performance through the last piece. Natalie’s performance is always touchy. From her talented musicianship, sweet and humorous talk, to the boundless energy featuring foot-tapping rave-ups and world-class step dance, her live performance combines tradition and contemporary senses. Natalie takes the traditional Celtic music and features elements of Jazz, Latin music and guest vocals. Together with Natalie (fiddle), the crew of the band in this concert includes: Brad Davidge (guitar & vocals), John Chiasson (bass & vocals), Allan Dewar (piano & keyboards), Matt Maclsaac (badpipes & whistles), and Miche Pouliot (drums & percussion).

According to the program description provided by the overture center, Natalie MacMaster began to pick up a fiddle from her 9 years old and has not looked back. She is the niece of famed Cape Breton fiddler Buddy MacMaster. Her discography includes: Bluprint (2003), Live (2002, double CDs), In My Hands (1999), My Roots Are Showing (1998), No Boundaries (1996), A Compilation (1996), and Fit As a Fiddle (1993).
